This video will make you nostalgic for a simpler time when technology was used for such useful things as making remixes of Queen tracks with Oscilloscopes and what appears to be the bastard stepchild of a dot-matrix printer. I’m also fairly convinced this is the last sound we’ll hear before the machines rise up and take over civilization.
Alvaro Cassinelli and Daito Manabe teamed up to create this laser tracking project. Alvaro had the initial design concept and Daito did the sound development end. The system tracks objects (whether physical or simply drawn) within its field of vision and the laser will obey boundaries and borders as it bounces around. Screw Tamagotchi, this looks like a much more interesting virtual pet (assuming, of course, that they add a volume control for it).
